History: Coach Melvin Erickson had the biggest turn out of baseball hopefuls in the history of the sport at the beginning of practice in February of 1956. One hundred seventeen hopefuls turned out for the first official workout. The Sun Devils would finish the season with a record of 14-12.
Erickson managed the club for 4 years and finished with an overall record of 62-53-1. The Arizona State Sun Devils are currently members of the Pac-12 Conference and play their home games at Phoenix Municipal Stadium, Phoenix, Arizona.
