History: The LSU Tigers had a record of 9-1 in 1969, the 100 year centennial of College Football. The Tigers had a punishing defense led by 3x All-American defensive back Tommy Casanova. The Tigers had 3 shut-outs and 4 games in which they held opponents under 10 points or less. This was the 8th year for Head Coach Charles McClendon who would finish 10 years later as the winningest football Coach in LSU history (137-59-7). During his 18 year career, the Tigers suffered just 1 losing season and captured 7 Bowl victories. McClendon was inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1986. The LSU Tigers are currently members of the South Eastern Conference (SEC) Western Division and play their home games in Tiger Stadium, better known as Death Valley, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
